Customer Service

When asked if I believe in customer service my answer is obviously "Yes, of course!" However, yesterday I got to talking with my husband about customer service and the one-way-ofness that it seems to have in its definition.

I was speaking with an architect regarding our home. He was reviewing some of his qualifications and I was so excited because it seemed that perhaps this was going to be an answer for us and someone we could work with. I think he was thrown, though, when I told him how excited I was to meet him and looking forward to our appointment.

And it occurred to me that maybe we too often think of customer service being about the vendor servicing the customer. And what we really need to think about is how we can all serve each other. It isn't as if the "customer" is the king. I don't think I really believe that the more I think about it. I think more that YOU are important. Whether you are buying from me or selling to me.

What's important is that we are of service to each other. Regardless of what we buy and sell.
